🎙️ How do you like Teacher Talking Time?

We are rebuilding the Learn YOUR English website, and one of the things we’re most excited about is giving Teacher Talking Time a much bigger presence.

The podcast has grown into one of the most important parts of what we do. It has allowed us to speak with researchers, teachers, teacher educators, writers, entrepreneurs, and people who are shaping the future of language education.

Now we’d love to hear from YOU – the listeners.

If Teacher Talking Time has helped you, challenged you, inspired you, or simply kept you company in your teaching life, we’d love to hear a few words from you.

  • What do you like about the show?

  • What keeps you listening?

  • Was there an episode or guest that stayed with you?

We’ll be featuring some listener reflections on the new website.

Feel free to reply here or send us a private message.

Thank you for listening and being part of the Teacher Talking Time community.

🎙️ A surprise for you 😮

After almost a year of interviewing education entrepreneurs, we decided it was time to turn the microphones around and… interview each other.

As this series winds down – our final guest episode airs in November – we thought it would be fun to step into the hot seat for a change.

We’re definitely used to asking the questions, not answering them. And as you can imagine, interviewing your close friend is a little awkward. But since we’re both launching new ventures outside of LYE – Leo with TBL4T and Andrew with ImPact Canada – we wanted to dig into the reality of bringing those projects to life.

There was only one rule: no peeking at the questions beforehand.

What followed was completely unscripted, spontaneous, and genuinely surprising. Even after a decade of friendship, we ended up asking things we didn’t know the answers to.

It’s a fun change of pace, and we think you’re going to love it. Leo’s episode drops August 1, and Andrew’s follows on September 1.

Here’s a quick sneak peek into Leo’s episode:

📚 Summer Book Club

What are you reading this summer? I’ve finished with The Game by Ken Dryden (fantastic) and have now started a kind of cult classic: Breakfast of Champions.

I’m only a few chapters in, but it’s already very different from anything else I’ve read.

It almost – maybe? – feels like Vonnegut wrote the book for aliens visiting Earth for the first time. He breaks down everyday human concepts, social norms, and American culture as if he’s explaining us to an outsider. By stripping everything down to its absolute basics, he has a way of highlighting just how absurd and bizarre our world can be.

Even just starting it, it’s already making me pause and rethink the strange habits and stories we take for granted every day.

Have you read it?

That’s all for this edition. Talk in two weeks,

Leo and Andrew

*We’re on a bi-weekly newsletter schedule until September.
