It’s World Cup week and we have games in Toronto this week. It’ll likely be bedlam in town but exciting at the same time. Let the games begin.

In this week’s Mindful Monday, you’ll see:

  1. Want to present with us?

  2. Using authentic video in your classes

  3. Using the mom test to validate your business ideas

Hope you enjoy this week’s edition.

🎙️ Want to present with us?

Did you know that we’re once again running monthly CPD workshops?

We started Learn Your English to help teachers build sustainable teaching businesses. That work is still very much the core of what we do.

But we also want to create something else: a space where teachers can share their ideas and reach a wider community.

We’re opening monthly spots for teachers to present. If you’re working on something other teachers should know about, submit a proposal. We’d love to hear from you.

We’re accepting proposals for July onwards.

🎙️ Recording: Make a Greater Impact on Your Students with Authentic Video Lessons

“Real-world language isn’t adapted to the learner, which is exactly why bringing authentic video into the classroom early builds true confidence.”

Speaking of presenting to our community, we invited Fluentize founder Jake Young recently to talk with our community about the benefits of authentic video and language learning – including how it builds student confidence.

Jake’s built an amazing platform on Fluentize with authentic video lessons for all proficiency levels.

If you missed the session, here’s the recording:

🎙️ Compliments don’t pay the bills

How to use “The Mom Test” to validate your business ideas.

Don’t ask people what they think of your product or platform. Ask them about their routines and challenges within that.

That’s what Kate Bodrova told us on our recent podcast episode. Kate is the founder of Amazy – an award-winning workspace for education – and is a fan of “The Mom Test” of product validation.

Don’t ask people if they like it; ask them what their problems are – and then see if they pay for what you have.

That’s all for this edition. Talk next Monday,
