Welcome to Mindful Monday, where we bridge the gap between Second Language Acquisition research and the practical realities of both your classroom and your business. Each week, Leo and I share research-backed insights to help you sharpen your classroom teaching while building the freedom to work on your own terms.

🎙️ We have a surprise podcast guest…
We are very excited about the lineup of guests we have coming on the TeacherTalkingTime Podcast this Fall.
We got some absolute titans scheduled, but there’s one guest in particular I’ve been trying to get on the show for ages.
And they have finally said YES! 🙏
Want to guess who it is? Here’s a clue:
This person has spent decades shaping how we think about second language acquisition, language teaching, and what actually happens when learners try to use a language.
Any guesses?
🎙️ We’re building a new website!
We’ve been working behind the scenes on our new website and we hope to share it with you very soon.
We felt it was time for a refresher with a focus on our current work and that’s what we hope it represents.
Here’s a quick view of how the main page stands so far:
The goal is to have a site that serves you best: one that’s easy to navigate, easy to find what you’re looking for, and easy to gather answers to questions you have.
We’re excited to share it with you all.
What’s one thing you’d like to see us incorporate into the final version of the website?
📚 Summer Book Club
In 2001, my dad (Andrew) bought me a book to read on a family holiday we were taking. In 2026, I finally read it.
It’s Scottish novelist and former Governor General of Canada John Buchan’s The Thirty-nine Steps, first published in 1915. I told my dad I was reading it and he said “better late than never.”
It’s a quick read at only 125 pages and, dare I say, I regret waiting 25 years to read it. It’s an adventure story set in pre-World War I United Kingdom that also serves as a window into life at the time.
Certainly evading the authorities wouldn’t be so simple now as it was in the time of telegrams and no common cameras or internet.
If you want a quick interesting read, I recommend this one, even if you don’t wait two decades.
That’s all for this edition. Talk in two weeks,
Leo and Andrew
*We’re on a bi-weekly newsletter schedule until September.
Want to grab a coffee and strategize the next step of your business?
If you enjoyed this, the best compliment we could receive would be if you shared it with one person or restacked it on Substack.
